Eligible Alaskans to receive $1,174 dividend payment

Eligible Alaskans will receive $1,174 as their Permanent Fund dividend distribution in October, Gov. Sean Parnell announced on Sept. 20.

Most Alaskans who have their dividend check automatically deposited can expect to receive their dividend payment on Oct. 6.

In making the announcement of this year’s dividend amount, Parnell noted that Alaskans may see diminishing dividend distributions in future years, because dividend payments are based on a five-year average of how Alaska’s investments in the stock market have performed. In addition, Parnell said, dividends could be smaller because of declining oil revenues “unless we turn that around.”
